10X10 Colts Challenge: https://www.sascolts.org/about-sas/10x10coltschallenge.cfm?blm_aid=914434#detailid_384070

Don’t forget to work on RQ points (this is the last week to earn points) and XTRA Math!

Our morning Meets will be at the regularly scheduled times. Be ready this afternoon for Wednesday’s activity. You shouldn’t need anything except your bag and a pair of scissors. We will be meeting on Thursday this week, too! The Middle School Students are taking exams, so they won’t be attending SPARKS on Thursday. We will also meet together Friday morning for a special activity, and to open your surprise box!

4th GRADE: IXL Skills - DUE THURSDAY, December 17th. Math F.2, ELA K.1, D.3, A.2, G.3, AA.2, AA.3, Y.4, Y.5, Y.6, U.3. These are continued from last week, no new ones have been added. :0)

4th AND 5th GRADES:

READING: “United States”. Yesterday, you annotated your close read. Today, we will discuss your annotations, and we will answer some questions. I have emailed the questions to you.

READWORKS: You have questions due tomorrow (Thursday).

MATH: We will take a look at yesterday’s worksheet (How Many Bells?). Today, work on “What’s It Worth?” Remember, these are logic puzzles, meant to exercise your brain. They are meant to be challenging! Don’t give up!

SCIENCE: We will discuss yesterday’s video, “What is the Coldest Place on Earth?” Also, watch “Why do penguins have wings if they can’t fly?” https://mysteryscience.com/mini-lessons/penguin-wings?code=1993a0fcb2937a776bdecbfd70820ccc BEFORE our morning meeting so we can discuss that, too. After you watch the video, answer these questions on a sheet of paper:

1. Why do penguins have wings if they can't fly?

2. What did this lesson make you curious about? What other questions do you have about penguins?

3. A penguin's wings are too small for them to fly. We have arms that also don't work for flying. But we can invent machines that help us fly like birds, swim like fish, and even go to outer space! Draw or list inventions you know of that help us travel in air, water, or space. Then be an inventor. Invent a new way people can travel.
